“Extract for the Face, Not for Space”

While Damon clinicians around the world report that they are performing extractions in far fewer cases, there is a time to extract. Extractions are recommended in extreme midline discrepancies where there are no other treatment options, setting up cases for surgery or to improve bone and tissue contours around extremely poorly positioned teeth without negatively impacting the patient’s facial profile.

Extractions can also help meet anteroposterior occlusion requirement where other options have been eliminated. In addition, extractions may be performed in severe bimaxillary protrusion cases where correcting severe crowding without extractions will have a negative effect on the profile.

The following extraction cases demonstrate treatment using the Damon System in which extractions were performed for the face, but not for space.
